On January 15, 2025, Hambden Fire Department assisted in battling a three-alarm fire at a historic home in Painesville, Ohio. The fire, which severely damaged a nine-unit apartment building, required the response of 16 fire departments due to its intensity and frigid weather conditions. Fortunately, all occupants made it out safely, and firefighters rescued several pets. The cause of the fire was later determined to be the improper use of a torch to thaw ice.
