Bio & Certifications

Assistant Chief Vandevander joined the Hambden Fire Department in 1987. He worked his way through the ranks serving as Lieutenant and Captain prior to becoming Assistant Chief. He is certified as a firefighter II, EMT, and Fire Instructor. He works full time as a manager in data processing at Envision RX options. He also is a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. AC Vandevander is involved with the Geauga County Fire Chief’s Association, the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He also serves as the Treasurer for the department. In his spare time, AC Vandevander enjoys camping, and spending time with his wife Robyn and son Zack. He is also involved in 4-H and serves as the Vice President of Restful Lake Association. AC Vandevander resides with his family in Burton. AC Vandevander brings 33 years of experience as well as a strong background in IT and administration to the department.
