On 04/24/2024, at approximately 1853 hours, Hambden Fire Department responded to a barn fire located on Brakeman Road. Crews were dispatched and arrived on scene within four minutes. Upon arrival, crews were met with a fully involved structure, with flames visible from all sides and heavy smoke in the surrounding area.
Firefighters immediately began a defensive operation due to the intensity of the fire and the structural instability of the building. Despite our best efforts, the barn was declared a total loss. Thankfully, there were no injuries to civilians or first responders, and no animals were inside the structure at the time of the incident.
Thank you to our mutual aid partners Chardon Fire Dept., Montville Fire Dept., Munson Fire Dept., Middlefield Fire Dept., and Leroy Fire Dept. for their assistance during this incident. We also thank the Burton Fire Dept. for handling a rescue call during the fire.
