Fire Station Project

Fire Station Project Updates

In April 2024, the Hambden Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $6.75 million from the USDA-RD Community Facilities Program to support the construction of a new fire station. Later in the year, the State of Ohio contributed an additional $2.0 million grant to fulfill the local match requirement for the federal funds. Together, these awards provide a total construction budget of $8.75 million.

This page will serve as a source for project progress updates as we move forward with planning, design, and construction.

For those with questions or an interest in learning more, public informational meetings are held during the first “B” shift of the second week of each month at the fire station.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why build?

Financially, it did not make sense to renovate the existing firehouse. Multiple safety upgrades were needed. The current station has no pull-through bays, water/flooding issues, and the properties small footprint.

What are the building specs?

The proposed facility will encompass approximately 18,000 square feet, consisting of an apparatus bay, living quarters, and an administrative area.
